About Nokuthokoza

Hello friends!
I’m an American-sounding, Canadian-borne and Southeast Asian- bred gal, who recently relocated to the southern tip of the African continent. My title currently describes me as a pharmacist training as a Public Health Resident, and my job description outlines working with a foundation focusing on community-based HIV/AIDS projects. But all of this merely provides a one-dimensional labeling of my experience. This blog follows my journey while working and travelling in South Africa, and my hope is to share my perspective with you. You will find observations, commentaries, and reflections about healthcare and public health issues, culture, faith, and other encounters of my everyday life here in South Africa.

You might be wondering, who is Nokuthokoza? I will spending considerable time in Kwazulu-Natal, a South African province in which the Zulu language is commonly spoken. Nokuthokoza means gratitude in Zulu. As such, I'm writing as someone who feels deeply blessed to have this opportunity to journey here to learn and share my skills with others. Thanks be to God.
